FTP - File Transfer Protocol
FTP is a software application which is used to upload or donwload files to or from your server. FTP or File Transfer Protocol is one of the oldest software applications and has been used by the military to transfer files long before the "public" internet was born.Still today, FTP is one of the most important tools for webmasters to upload websites to their server. FTP creates a connection between your local computer and a server. FTP is an easy to use application with a graphic interface similar to Windows Explorer showing your local file system on one side, and the server file system on the other. Just click and select the files you want to up- or download, hit "transfer" or "download"/"upload" and that's it.
